Reviews From Actual Users
These reviews have been made by people who have the boots and have used them.
The user got his shoes in a size 9 Medium US in the color copper rough and tough. “These are great boots for starters. They are very good looking, lightweight and comfortable. What struck me is how lightweight they are compared to the other boots that I own. This being said, I am not a fan of the cushion insoles. I would have preferred leather insoles but this is not to say that the cushion insoles are not comfortable. This is just my preference, I do not want to be petty. What I was worried about are the eyelets. Metal eyelets really contribute to the longevity of the boots which these boots do not have. I am sure that the leather eyelets would be the first damage to the boots because of being stretched out. To sort this problem out, I added my own 4 mm metal eyelets. I would advise anyone to buy the boots one full size smaller just as your regular running shoes. These are my forth pair of red wing boots.”
The user got his boots in a size 9 Medium US in the color copper rough and tough. “I bought these boots because of the red wing collection. I love the quality on the red wings especially because of the red wing chukka work boots. I was therefore expecting the same thing when I decided to get these. When I looked at the sizing and compared it to the other Red wing boots, these ones come surprisingly large. You will need to go one full size down you purchase the boots. This feature is not something that I have seen with other boots. The boots have better quality leather which I am impressed about. However, I did not like that the boots do not have metal eyelets. The eyelets to me are one of the few things I look at when purchasing boots. The boots are generally comfortable until it gets to the toes. There is very little cushioning at the toes which is disappointing. I had to get inserts for these boots to help them be more comfortable. The pricing in my opinion is too high but to some people if is not. But the general look and feel of the boots is something that I am really happy about compared to some red wings”.
The user is verified and bought his boots in size 10 Medium US in the color black Abilene. “I initially had planned to buy the boots in the color copper rough and tough but I ended up changing my mind. I have two friends who own a pair of the weekender and I the pressure to have them got to me. What captured my eye was the design. The boots look very handsome and luxurious. Most boots available in the market are work boots which have a rough feel to them. I however, wish that the shaft was higher because I hit my feet on a chair and the pain was unbearable. I removed the insoles because it took a lot of the space that my feet would have otherwise occupied. But after removing them, my feet are still comfortable. I’m thinking of getting another pair in the copper rough and tough because I have come to like how the color is when you pair them with brightly colored socks.”
The user is also verified and he bought his boots in size 9 Medium US I’m the color copper rough and tough. “I am a big fan of red wing boots. They always make great looking and long lasting boots. There is one that I have had for twenty years now, I have resoled it just once. When I saw the weekender boots I knew I had to add them to my collection. The look is what attracted me the most and I like that they come in various colors which gives me an opportunity to stack up on a few of them if possible. I really wish that they were waterproof though because I would love to wear them in the rainy season too. My son also has a pair of the boots. I introduced them to him and the weekender are his first pair of red wings. This pair did not take a long time for my feet to break in. It only took one day, I was really shocked about this. What I was disappointed about was the price. To me I think they are a bit expensive but I guess the quality matches the price. I have also heard that nowadays there are some which are not made in the US so ensure that you get the US made ones. Also another thing to mention is to brush the boots with horse hair made brushes. This is because the boots are made of rough leather.”
The user bought his boots in size 10 in Hawthorne muleskinner. “ This boot is my first pair of the weekender collection. I bought it a few weeks ago and I’ve been loving them ever since. I do not own many work boots because my job has a formal setting. I always see people wearing the red wing boots and I’ve always felt jealous but when the weekender collection closed this gap for me. The leather of the boot is good quality and I really love that about it. I have worn this boots to the office for a whole week straight. The break in period for me took three days and I had seen that for others it took longer so I was glad about that. The boots are quite comfortable because of the footbed. I also loved the rubber soles because it makes walking comfortable as well. The boots are very lightweight. When I first got them out of the box, that was my first thought. I really love these boots.”
Final verdict
The Red Wing shoes manufacturer made a bold move in bringing out the red wing weekender chukka. That is somewhat a game changer if you try and compare with other manufacturers.
The long standing manufacturing of the red wing shoes should gibe you enough confidence to buy the shoes. They have been making handcrafted boots for a very long time and the quality in each boot remains to be told. The weekender boots are praised for being super lightweight.
This factor was considered in the weekender boots because of the easy going feel that a casual boot should always have. The boots come in a variety of colors in which you can choose from and all of them have the same amazing quality that the red wing boots are always known to have. You need to take note that when getting the weekender boots, it is advisable to go a size down. The boots are the only ones in the red wing shoes that have this feature.
The weekender boots are also not water proof, it would therefore be advisable to wear them less in the rainy season. They are also not winter boots. The salt might end up damaging the leather. These boots not only look good but they also feel good on the feet with how comfortable they are.
